Lucy Chow is a prominent figure in the innovation space, supporting founders and acting as a forward-thinking investor. Recently, she was honored by Arabian Business as one of the 50 Inspiring Female Business Leaders of 2023. Lucy also serves as an Ambassador for Women In Games (WIGJ), and her book, “Changing the Game: Discover How Esports and Gaming are Redefining Business, Careers, Education, and the Future,” was released in October 2022.

In a recent interview with The Visionary Icons, Lucy opened up about her professional journey, the role models who have shaped her, her major career milestones, and the principles behind her success. Below are some highlights from the interview.

Lucy, Can You Share Your Journey and How You Reached Your Current Position?

I began my career with 15 years in banking and financial services, but about a decade ago, I co-founded an angel network specifically focused on investing in female founders. As a result, I’ve earned the title of one of the “OG” investors in the UAE. Throughout my career, I’ve been a passionate advocate for digital transformation, particularly in business and education sectors. I initially entered the world of angel investing, and today, I represent the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), where I hold three roles.

The WBAF, an affiliate of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, has given me a platform to advocate for entrepreneurs and the importance of investment in startups. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of every nation’s economy, and without the proper funding, they cannot flourish, which ultimately stunts economic growth.

No matter the role I take or the organization I work with, I always champion women. Whether it’s pushing for more funding for female entrepreneurs or advocating for more women in executive roles or boardrooms, this is a consistent message I carry. This passion for empowering women naturally led me to write my book, which offers valuable insights for investors.
