The Empowering Journey of Rebecca I. Perez
Across the globe, women in leadership roles are making significant strides, challenging norms, and transforming industries. These trailblazing leaders are reshaping the business landscape by fostering equitable partnerships, redefining success, sharing authority, and cultivating meaningful connections at every level. One such inspiring figure is Rebecca I. Perez, a dynamic entrepreneur whose journey is defined by courage, authenticity, and empowerment.
As the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Goss Club, Rebecca has authored three bestselling books and holds a diverse array of certifications—she’s a private pilot, skydiver, scuba diver, and real estate investor. Her story is also one of resilience and purpose, driven by her unwavering belief in empowerment through self-authenticity.
For Rebecca, empowerment means “leading with your most authentic voice.” She emphasizes staying true to oneself amidst the noise of external influences, stating, “It’s easy to become lost in perceptions of authenticity. To remain genuine, we must delve deeper into our thoughts, passions, and essence.”
Rebecca’s journey to authenticity has been a process of shedding unnecessary layers. She boldly defied industry expectations, like launching a print magazine when many declared print to be obsolete, and invested in real estate when market conditions were volatile. Her courage stems from her unwavering intuition, which has guided her through every decision and fueled her passion for self-discovery.
Leading Through Self-Discovery
From a young age, Rebecca embraced independence. In fact, her first words were “by myself,” which later became a symbol of her drive for self-reliance. “I’ve always been driven by a desire to learn and do things independently,” she recalls, “often feeling guided by an inner voice—like a guardian angel.”
Her confidence grew from her diverse talents—singing, writing, and a strong grasp of business communication. “I always exuded this natural confidence, often without realizing it until others pointed it out to me,” she reflects. Yet, the loss of her parents during her teenage years forced her to navigate the complexities of life on her own, triggering a deep inner strength. “Losing both my parents to mental illness forced me to navigate life on my own at an early age,” she shares.
Despite these challenges, Rebecca made a promise to herself: to remain financially independent and to never let her emotions control her. Through time and healing, she rebuilt her self-confidence, drawing strength from within. “I realized that, regardless of who entered or exited my life, I always had myself to rely on,” she explains.
The Birth of the GOSS Movement
After graduating from McGill University with a degree in Journalism and Public Relations, Rebecca was eager to make her mark. Her experience at a prominent lifestyle blog gave her the platform to build an audience of over a million monthly views, where her opinion pieces received widespread acclaim. This success solidified her belief in her purpose: to inspire and empower others.
At just 23, she launched Goss Club, a platform designed to connect and inspire women with a shared vision of empowerment. “The term ‘Gossy’ means different things to every woman involved in our platform, but to me, it represents self-actualization—the journey of becoming the best version of yourself,” she explains.
Five years later, Rebecca’s print magazine reaches hundreds of thousands of women across industries like aviation, law, business, fitness, music, and more. It is distributed throughout North America, offering an open membership with access to masterclasses, live courses, and networking events on topics like emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
A Commitment to Excellence
As the founder of GOSS, Rebecca oversees both the editorial and creative aspects of the magazine. Initially, she stepped back to allow her editorial team to handle interviews and content creation. Today, her 22-person team manages everything from social media to broader content strategies, and Rebecca is focused on expanding the brand’s offerings and exploring new markets.
Rebecca’s entrepreneurial journey doesn’t stop at the magazine. She plans to release three books in 2023: 101 Ways to BeGossy, Cash is Queen™, and BE — An Autobiography.
101 Ways to BeGossy is a practical guide for women in business, providing 101 timeless tips paired with illustrations. Cash is Queen™ explores how women can reshape their mindset around wealth, viewing money as energy that can be attracted when one aligns with its frequency. BE — An Autobiography is a personal memoir, where Rebecca shares the lessons she’s learned from growing up in an abusive environment and the challenges that led her to establish her thriving business.
Thriving Amid Challenges
Rebecca’s journey has been far from easy. One of her biggest challenges has been learning to trust herself and to accept help from others. “In my younger years, I was influenced by well-meaning friends and family who didn’t fully understand my vision. Looking back, I made some decisions that could have been avoided had I listened to my inner voice,” she reflects.
Though Rebecca initially believed she had to do everything on her own, she now recognizes the value of having the right mentors and coaches. “Surround yourself with people who can support your growth,” she advises, “and be open to receiving help when you need it.”
When asked if she would have approached her journey differently, Rebecca answers confidently, “Every mistake, every decision, and every emotion I faced contributed to my success. They were stepping stones that led me to build a multimillion-dollar brand and evolve into a better version of myself.”
The Power of Intuition
Rebecca has valuable advice for aspiring women entrepreneurs: “Stop seeking validation from those who haven’t accomplished what you aim to achieve. Trust your instincts and fully commit to your vision. You have the ability to succeed!”
She firmly believes that having a clear “why” is essential for success. “It’s important to vocalize your purpose regularly so your audience understands why they should choose you over your competitors.”
Rebecca adds, “Surround yourself with supportive individuals so you can thrive. Don’t focus too much on the finish line—enjoy the journey.”
A Vision for the Future
Rebecca’s mission is clear: she wants to empower women globally to build multimillion-dollar brands. She envisions a world where women thrive, supported by men who empower their partners to find their voices. Her goal is to reach three billion women across the globe, creating a movement that transcends borders—from South Africa to India, Australia, and China.
In the business world, Goss Magazine is on a trajectory to become an eight-figure enterprise, with plans to expand into real estate development and other industries. “With each passing month, we are becoming louder and more impactful,” she says.
Rebecca is also launching the GOSS Foundation, a nonprofit initiative that will educate women in developing countries and fund women-owned businesses. Her unwavering passion and determination continue to drive her mission to inspire, empower, and lead.
